My interested in horses began at an early age due to the fact that my mum had kept her own horse – and as they say ‘it runs in the family’
I had my first pony (Nelson) at the age of eight and we grew up together as members of the Petersfield Pony Club. We competed successfully in all disciplines up until the age on twenty five. During this time we had bought a bigger horse who took me through the later stages of Pony Club and into my early British Eventing career.
Ransom and I had successes in eventing from 90cm through to Novice, and I had to balance this with studying at Sparsholt College, Winchester to become a Veterinary Nurse.
My nursing career started in equine at Liphook Equine hospital at the age of sixteen; but I later decided to keep my work and hobby separate so qualified as a small animal Veterinary Nurse with an Advanced Diploma in Veterinary Science.
In 2012 Ransom and I had a horrendous rotational fall which left me with a broken pelvis and a hard decision to retire from eventing. Since then we have turned our successes to British Dressage and have progressed up the levels currently campaigning at Advanced Medium with hope to qualify for PSG later this year.
I still had the eventing bug so in 2013 I bought a young ex racehorse (Finley) who after injuring himself 6 weeks after buying him resulting in a year of rest and rehabilitation; has gone on to start a successful campaign in eventing.
2016 was our first full year affiliated with British Eventing at 100cm; and as they say the rest is history!
